Our Centennial weekend celebration has come and gone after all the preparing. We’re still basking in the exhilaration of the event. This entire year is dedicated to our 100-year anniversary but this was the highlight. The Church was just beautiful with the presence of our two hierarchs, four priests and a deacon exemplifying the church in her fullness.
The attendance was filled, the choir was superb and the quartet of cantors were at their finest. The banquet was very well attended and was a true celebration – a job well done by the Committee and Parish Council. It was wonderful to see our great benefactor’s family there –George and Lynne Tonna and their whole family and Diane Tonna, as well as other out-of-town guests from Woonsocket, Worcester, New York and even Ohio.
And there was even time for something we haven’t had in a while - dancing, both ethnic and contemporary.
Our mission now going forward is that we don’t just think about the past but to concentrate on the future. We need to ensure our continued success as a parish for our grandchildren and beyond. It’s not unthinkable that there would eventually be a 200-year celebration – if the Lord doesn’t return before that.
There is always a need for the Church and for a parish in the midst of any community. Without worship we cease to exist as human beings created to be in communion with God. There is no other organization even designed to be like the Church and for that reason we strive to ensure the Parish’s thriving existence for all people of good will and true faith.
